SOC SCI 2BU3 Introduction to Business for Social Sciences (Term I)
An overview of the functional areas of business and how they interact. This course is designed to provide an understanding of the role of business in Canada, by focusing on the basics of management, organizational theory and structure.
Prerequisite: Registration in Level II or above of a program in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Not open to students with credit or registration in Commerce 1E03.

SOC SCI 2MR3 Introduction to Marketing for Social Sciences (Term II)
This course examines how environmental forces shape an organization's marketing program. Students will learn to create marketing plans that reflect current consumer behaviour patterns, and practice the development of a product or service component of the marketing mix.
Prerequisite: Registration in Level II or above of a program in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Not open to students with credit or registration in Commerce 2MA3
& 
SOC SCI 2AC3 Financial & Managerial Accounting for Social Sciences (Term II)
An introduction to financial accounting and managerial accounting with a focus on topics relevant to managerial decision making. The course has two distinct elements: Financial accounting with a focus on understanding financial statements and management accounting with an emphasis on costing, budgeting, and control.
Prerequisite: Registration in Level II or above of a program in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Not open to students with credit or registration in Commerce 2AA3, 2AB3
Grade 11 M or U Math is recommended
Enrollment for all three courses will be capped at 80.

The above-mentioned courses are the first 3 of an eventual 6 courses needed to earn a Mohawk Business Studies Certificate along with a McMaster Social Sciences Degree.
We are planning to launch the new Integrated Business Studies Certificate as an option with a Social Sciences degree in September 2012, as well as 3 additional courses in Human Resources Management, Personal Financial Management and Entrepreneurial Training.
